I have a confession to make… I’ve been Whipped, for a while now…
It all started on twitter… a few people I interact with kept mentioning”hair butter”, “whipped” and this Lauren chick. So me being the nosy person I am, I did some investigating and clicked the website link on her profile. At this point in my life I’m trying to take better care of my skin and hair, and have decided I was going to go the all (or close to) natural route.
For my first order I kept it simple and focused on the hair & face. I got the “sample” sizes (4 oz.) of the Scalp Therapy Creme (with Tea tree oil), Hair butter, and the Sugar on top Facial Scrub. Oh and I also tossed in the Lip Creme as well. Now I will say this, I don’t know how the details of how the facial scrub is supposed to work, but I do know that once I feel the tingling and rinse my face, it feels moisturized but not in a bad greasy way. It’s like I can skip the last step of adding a little bit of oil to my face (as to not have it dry out overnight). Being new to the facial terms of exfoliating, moisturizing, etc… I had to ask Miss Lauren what she recommended for the weekly usage of her product. “Twice a week.” she said and although I wish I could use it more, it’s clear I have no issues with it what so ever.
Hair products: Before I get started, let me just praise the hair gods for creating this young woman. The hair butter and scalp therapy is the absolute best. I have 4a hair and my daughter has a head full of 3c curls. It’s known that type 4 hair is coarse and needs lots of moisture, but I was surprised that my daughter’s hair couldn’t hold more moisture than mine when using other products. Using Lauren’s Hair butter eliminates that problem though. For the amount I need to use, it’s automatic that I would have to apply more to my hair because of it’s coarseness. However, when it comes to my daughter’s hair, I only need to apply it once for the week.
For my second order (after being hooked to the hair butter), I decided to upgrade to the 16 oz. container. After all, I was planning on using it on both mine and Jaylah’s heads. I also purchased the cocoa mama butter and one of the $20 holiday gift sets- composed of the fruity scented body butters. The butters were the sample size and in my order I received plush pomegranate, champagne mango, and lemon verbena. For the scented body butters, I would have to say that plush pomegranate is my absolute favorite out the bunch. Lemon verbena wasn’t my fave but that didn’t stop me from using it. I just used it daily and only used the other two scents for when I wanted to be sniffed by a boo thang. When I started using the cocoa mama butter I really should’ve taken a “before” photo to see how it was effecting my stretch marks. I mainly use it on my tummy where the battle scars are from my pregnancy with Jaylah. It’s pushing 7 years so I’m not expecting them to disappear right away. However I’m sure if Lauren was around slinging body butters and ish in ’05/’06, I would be singing a different tune now.
Body butters: Just because these are whipped products, don’t let that fool you into thinking you’re going to be dealing with some light, fluffy ish. It sounds all nice and innocent but when you get your hands on it, you’re in for a treat of thickness. Not only does it smell good, but definitely keeps you ash free all day. Also with mother nature being a major queen bee with this single digit wind chill weather, the body butters will definitely protect your skin from the elements.
At the beginning of this month, I placed my third order with Miss Lauren. It’s definitely fair to say that I’m officailly whipped. I’m okay with that because I know that with trying out the lip scrub, twist butter and bikini butter I will be one happy camper. Although I am whipped, I do know I need to finish up what I have before making another order. It’s going to be hard, but making a list of what will need to be re-stocked should somewhat satisfy my cravings…
